Nick de Vries is preparing to replace Lando Norris at McLaren at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix if the need arises.


Norris misses all media events on Thursday due to possible food poisoning.


It is expected that the Briton will have to recover by tomorrow. However, if Norris is still unable to compete, it will be de Vries who will replace him. McLaren and Mercedes have the same reserve drivers this year - and only de Vries is present in Sao Paulo.


De Vries made his F1 debut this year as a substitute for Alex Albon at Williams at the Italian Grand Prix - and managed to score points in his debut race. He will be a full-time F1 driver next season with Alpha Tauri.
