Lawson assessed his prospects for the 2025 season. The Red Bull driver, who is preparing to spend his first full season in Formula 1, noted that he is ready to take on this challenge, despite the complexity of the task and playing for the same team with Max Verstappen.
You need to be realistic. So yes, being realistic about the situation, I am well aware that I will be competing on a bunch of completely new tracks for me, where I have never raced before. After all, my first full season in Formula 1 awaits me. So I don`t expect to come in and immediately start fighting for victories.
Although it is obvious that I expect good performances, that I will do the work that the team needs. At the same time, it is also clear that I am not on our site for the sake of defeat. There can only be one goal here.
Lawson also believes that his long stint in the Red Bull youth program and working with Helmut Marko prepared him well for his new challenge:
I feel like during the six years I spent in the Red Bull system I was constantly under pressure andI`m already used to it. After all, it all started from the very beginning, back when Red Bull signed me at 16 years old. Helmut Marko called me every week and said: You have to do your job, otherwise they will get rid of you.
It`s quite a lot of psychological pressure for a young driver, but in the end it actually shapes you as a person, prepares you for Formula 1. So I think the team prepared me for this opportunity.
